Constantly Curious - Edition #4

New Creator (Fran Walsh), 1,000 True Fans, Tim Urban & More

Welcome to Constantly Curious, Edition #4 (5/11/2023)!

The idea here is simple: each week, I will curate the most interesting articles, tweets, videos, ideas, people or hacks that I’ve come across and send them (via this newsletter) directly to your inbox.

I recently updated my Twitter Bio, which can be found here. I’m workshopping some ideas that to show people “who i am” when they land on my socials.

What do you think? Does this encapsulate my authenticity? I’d love your feedback!

With that said, let’s get into it -

Essay That Had a Big Impact On Me

1000 True Fans (by Kevin Kelly). The concept is simple, yet profound - in order to be a successful creator, founder, businessperson, etc, you don’t necessarily need to target millions of people. Really, you just need 1000 TRUE fans. 1000 people who will subscribe to your newsletter, buy your book digitally and physically, drive 200 miles to hear you sing, or pay a monthly fee for your website. They’ll support you no matter what, because they love YOU as much as they love what you do or sell.

I love 1000 True Fans because it’s scalable and transferrable across any business or idea. If you build authentically, you will (in-time) find your tribe. And once you find your tribe, cultivate THAT first and foremost. The “fair-weather fans” may come or go, but your 1000 True Fans are most important.

You can find Kevin Kelly on The Tim Ferriss show here or on The Rich Roll Show here. He’s a total genius.

Okay…one comment:

“The purpose of wealth is freedom”

This is one of my core beliefs - true wealth is not just money or stuff, but ownership of your time. You “work” when you want, how you want, for who you want. You make your own rules.

In my opinion, owning one’s time should be the real end-goal. $$ in your bank account are just a means to facilitate the ultimate freedom.

If you agree, share today’s newsletter with someone who needs to see/understand that message… 🙏

2 Newsletters That Will Add Value To Your Life

  1. Sahil Bloom’s Curiosity Chronicles (@SahilBloom on Twitter)

Sahil writes two newsletters a week:

The Curiosity Chronicle is a mid-week newsletter that provides actionable ideas to help you build a high-performing, healthy, and wealthy life.

The Friday Five is a short newsletter that offers 5 interesting ideas to spark your curiosity heading into the weekend.

Both drops are weekly reads for me, and jam-packed with value

  2. James Clear’s 3-2-1 Newsletter (@JamesClear on Twitter)

James Clear (author of Atomic Habits) newsletter is powerful because of it’s simplicity - 3 ideas, 2 quotes, and 1 question to consider

Up & Coming Creator That Needs To Be On Your Radar

Fran Walsh (@FranWalsh73) is a financial advisor, content creator and ½ of the Opulus Wealth Management Team (@OpulusLLC). Fran consistently drops nuggets of wisdom on social media, like the ones below:

What takes Fran and the Opulus crew a step further in my book is how they take their financial principles and apply them to all aspects of life.

Doing hard things everyday leads to an easier life; whether that’s budgeting, investing, exercising, etc. Physical and mental fitness is just as important as financial fitness, and without being physically/mentally strong, your financial fitness is less likely to be up-to-snuff.

I mean, look at this savage!

Fran and the Opulus team recently release an online course titled Master Your Money. They identified a need in the market for no-nonsense financial education based on tried and true principles, and produced this course to give people the tools needed to take control of their personal finances. Check out this video to learn exactly what Master Your Money is all about.

I have already started using the tools within the course, and the value is next-level.

That’s it for Edition #4 of CC.

What did you think? ALL feedback is welcome. Additionally, if you read/watched something you think I would like - PLEASE send it my way.

If you enjoyed, feel free to share with friends/family - MUCH more to come, and I cant wait to keep sharing ideas with you.

Stay Curious, Friends.
