Videos I’m Watching…

This is a super interesting and raw behind-the-scenes look at life in the Milione brothers world. As the founders of Minted New York, a brand that combines fashion and fitness into one incredibly unique aesthetic, we get insights into life, training and building a business. This video was really cool because of its simplicity. No frills, no fancy edits. Just a real day-in-the-life of two guys really “going for it”.

On February 3rd, the US Olympic Trials begin for the Marathon. In this video, 9 Bandit Running athletes take us behind the scenes of the lead-up to the trials. What stunned me more than anything in this video is to see that most of these people have full-time jobs that have NOTHING to do with running or the Olympics. The dedication is inspirational.

Keeping up with the behind-the-scenes theme…here’s a look at of Royal Sushi & Izakaya, one of Philadelphia’s best and most exclusive restaurants. Specificlly, the head chef Jesse Ito is prepping for his Omakase tasting menu. The attention to detail the chef(s) use here is mind-blowing. This is not food…its art.

Articles I’m Reading…

PRO TIPS: For any articles that are paywall’d, refer to CC #11 or CC #19 for a way to bypass. OR, utilize your iPhone’s “Reader View” in your browser (this works occasionally)

Podcasts I’m Listening Too…

I’m about ¼ of the way through this massive episode of The Tim Ferriss Show with Noah Kagan, an incredibly prolific entreprenuer who has created 5+ $1,000,000 businesses. I just ordered Noah’s new book (which is a large piece of the podcast discussion) and can’t wait to get into it.

The title is self-explanatory. But…directly from the description, “It's just a steel tumbler with a straw and side handle. But the Stanley cup is a social media phenomenon and an incredible business success story. How did this thing come out of nowhere? What lessons can we learn about its success? And, more broadly, what do cultural phenomena like this say about marketing trends, social media tastes, and the role of randomness in our life and economy?”

Posts that Caught My Eye…

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.

Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking.

Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.

And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

Steve Jobs

See you next week!
